Frequently Asked Questions
These are the questions we are asked most often, answered plainly. If yours is not here, call 01095845009 or write to zadofquran@gmail.com and we will answer it directly.
Delivery and payment
Where do you deliver?
We ship within Egypt only, to every governorate, at the address you enter at checkout. We do not ship outside Egypt at the moment, and we cannot hand an order to a forwarding service on your behalf. If you are sending a piece as a gift inside Egypt, enter the recipient’s address and phone number in the shipping fields and the order goes straight to them.
How much does delivery cost?
Delivery is free on every order, anywhere in Egypt. There is no minimum order value and no shipping line added at checkout. The price you see on the product page is the price you pay at the door. We offer one delivery method and it is free, so there is no paid express tier to upgrade to. The full detail is on our Shipping Policy page.
How can I pay for my order?
Cash on delivery is the only payment method we accept. You pay in Egyptian pounds when the order reaches you, and nothing is charged before that. Card payment, mobile wallets and bank transfer are not available yet. Please have the order total ready in cash on the day of delivery. Open the parcel and check the pieces as soon as you receive them — if anything is damaged or wrong, call us the same day and we will put it right.
How long will my order take to arrive?
Every piece is prepared by hand after the order is placed. We confirm your order by phone on the number you entered at checkout before it is sent, and tell you then when to expect it. Someone calls you again ahead of the delivery so that you are there to receive it. For an update on an order already on its way, call 01095845009, Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 6 PM.
Ordering and changes
Do I need an account to order?
No. You can complete an order as a guest by adding the pieces you want to the cart and filling in your name, address and phone number at checkout. An account is optional. If you create one, your address is saved for next time and your past orders stay in one place, which makes reordering quicker. Either way the process and the price are the same.
Can I change or cancel my order after I place it?
Yes, if the order has not left us yet. Call 01095845009 or email zadofquran@gmail.com with your name and order number as soon as you can, and we will change the address, swap a piece, or cancel it. Once an order is out for delivery it can no longer be changed, but since you pay cash on delivery you can still decline it at the door.
Returns
Can I return a piece after it arrives?
Yes. Under the Egyptian Consumer Protection Law No. 181 of 2018 you have fourteen days from receiving your order to return goods in their original condition. Tell us within that period by phone or email, keep the piece unused and in its packaging, and we will arrange the collection. The full terms are on our Refund and Returns Policy page.
Your refund is paid either in cash when the returned piece is collected, or by bank or wallet transfer to an account you give us — the choice is yours. If the piece is faulty, damaged on arrival or not what you ordered, we cover the cost of returning it. If you simply changed your mind, the fourteen-day right under Law No. 181/2018 costs you nothing, so we deduct no return fee.
Our candles and concrete
What are your candles made of?
The Fluffy Candle and the Golden Leaf Luxury Candle are poured with natural soy wax. For the rest of the range we would rather tell you than guess, so call 01095845009 or email zadofquran@gmail.com and we will tell you what a particular candle is made of before you order. We work with concrete and candles together, and exactly what goes into a single piece is confirmed on that call.
What do the candles smell like, and how long do they burn?
We have not published scent notes, burn times or dimensions, and we would rather leave a gap than put a figure on a page we cannot stand behind. For the scent, the burn time or the size of a specific piece, call 01095845009 or email us and we will tell you what we know about that piece before you order. As these are measured, they will be added to the product pages.
Why does each piece look slightly different?
We work with concrete, and concrete is cast rather than printed. Where a piece is cast, it is poured, cured and finished by hand, so small differences in tone, surface texture and the faint marks left by the mould are normal. Two pieces made in the same batch will never be exactly identical. We treat this as part of the material rather than a fault, and we set a piece aside only if it is cracked or unsound.
Care and reuse
How do I burn a candle safely and get an even burn?
Place the candle on a flat, heat-resistant surface, away from curtains and draughts, and never leave a burning flame unattended or within reach of children and pets. On the first burn, let the wax melt all the way out to the edge; this prevents a tunnel forming down the middle. Trim the wick before each burn, and stop once only a thin layer of wax is left.
How do I look after a concrete piece?
Wipe concrete with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry it straight away. Do not soak it, put it in a dishwasher, or use bleach and abrasive powders, which mark the surface. Concrete holds heat, so let a piece cool completely before you move or clean it. Keep it out of standing water, and use a coaster on wood or polished stone.
Can I keep using the piece once the candle is finished?
If your candle came in a vessel, that vessel is made to outlast the candle. Let it cool, then warm the base gently, or leave it somewhere warm until the last of the wax loosens, and ease it out with a blunt spoon. Remove the wick holder, wipe the inside clean, and keep the piece for brushes, jewellery, a small plant or a tealight. To know how a particular piece is made before you order, call 01095845009.
Custom work, workshops and contact
Do you make custom pieces?
Tell us what you have in mind on our Customize Your Piece page, or call 01095845009 and talk it through with us. Say what the piece is for, and any colour or finish you have in mind. What we can make, what it costs and how long it takes are agreed on that call, before anything is started. If you are asking on behalf of a company or an event, call us and we will tell you what we can take on.
Do you run workshops?
Yes. We run workshops where you shape and pour a piece with us instead of only buying a finished one. You can read about them on our Our Workshops page. Session length, group size, dates and pricing are agreed when you book, private sessions included — call 01095845009 during working hours.
How do I reach a person?
Call 01095845009 or write to zadofquran@gmail.com. We answer Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 6 PM, and we are closed on Saturday and Sunday; messages sent over the weekend are answered on Monday. We are based in Cairo, Egypt. If your question is about an order, include the name and phone number used at checkout so we can find it quickly.
